Okay Peanuts who’s ready to hear about MY favorite stone? Yup, we’re talkin’ diamonds!! Have you ever wondered why diamonds are such a coveted gem? I know I have. Seriously, what makes that sparkling stone make me what to drool? It also makes The husband’s eyes roll. I am 100% a diamond lover. Show me the sparkly! Please?? Diamonds are the most precious and enduring of all gemstones, with their very name taken from the ancient Greek word αδάμας (adámas) meaning ‘unbreakable’. For centuries their exquisite beauty, inner fire and unique physical qualities have made them prized above all other gems. In fact, diamond engagement rings didn’t become popular until 1947 when De Beers, the British company that mined diamonds in South Africa, launched an advertising campaign. With the help of Hollywood stars and the slogan, “A diamond is forever,” diamond engagement rings skyrocketed in popularity.   Although I’m certain had I been born before they were popular, I would STILL want one (I’m ALL the diamonds!
